For Generations...
A good meal has been at the center of Camp Spofford’s hospitality ever since it opened in 1962. In the early years, the Dining Hall would only run when volunteers would come to cook meals for the kids, families, or churches who were attending. Eventually, Camp grew to the point of having year round food service, but it was split between using the summer Dining Hall from Memorial Day to Columbus Day, and then moving to Knute’s for the winter months.
After growing the Retreat Season to 150 year round beds, Camp reached the point where a year round Dining Hall was necessary. In 2013, Camp began working on the facility we currently use.
Where We Are
In its current state, the Dining Hall does not have enough seating for our summer camps, requiring outdoor seating at every meal. We also lack distinct spaces for Family Camp and Youth Camp, making meal time difficult to enjoy. During the Retreat Season, we have several groups that have outgrown our current space, resulting in overcrowding during their meals.
We believe that this project is vital to continue our important work of discipleship, hospitality, and service for everyone who comes. Praise God for the growth we’re seeing, but we risk losing momentum if we cannot maintain facilities to keep pace with the increasing guest numbers year after year.
Phase 2 Project Description
Our Dining Hall is too small. That’s the problem we aim to correct with this project, and the addition will give us the needed space to better serve kids, families, and churches. Not only will it benefit our current guests, but it will lay the groundwork for future growth in our retreat season as we continue to transition our seasonal buildings into year-round facilities.
Phase 2 of the project includes building a 1,025 sq ft addition to the current Dining Hall which will create seating for an additional 112 people. It will also feature a second floor that will be used for offices.
When it’s finished, we will have three much needed spaces:
- Dining Hall with seating for 330 guests at one time
- Retractable wall creating two separate dining areas for Family Camp and Youth Camp
- Second floor offices to provide space for our growing staff

When can we start building?
We know it will happen between two summers, and construction will begin in either September of 2026 or 2027. We need 70% of the total cost raised in cash and pledges before putting a shovel in the ground. That’s where you come in…
Join Us
We are inviting you to come alongside us in this important step forward for Camp Spofford. Your support today is an investment in the growing impact we have with kids, families, and churches. When we have people at Spofford – whether it’s a family, youth group, child, men’s or women’s group – we know that God is doing a special work in their lives while they are here.
The giving table reflects our strategic path toward meeting the final goal for Raise the Roof – $1,000,000 to build the Camper Dining Hall addition. In order for this project to begin this September, we need to raise $700,000 in cash and pledges. If we do not have the money in time, we will wait until the Fall of 2027 to start construction.
We invite you to prayerfully consider partnering with us in this effort. We don’t know how God may lead you to give, but we simply ask that you take time to seek His direction.
- Pray: Ask God how He may be calling you to support Camp Spofford in this season.
- Listen: Be attentive to how the Spirit may be prompting you to respond.
- Respond: Join us by making a pledge or donation toward our campaign.
Together, with God’s help, we can reach this goal and continue advancing the mission of Camp Spofford.
You're A Difference Maker
Thank you for taking the time to consider a commitment to this plan. Your involvement with Camp Spofford has left an incredible mark on our ministry, the guests who come, and me personally. I am consistently encouraged by your generosity and God’s faithfulness to equip Spofford and provide what is needed to do His work in every season.
This is a bold next step for the ministry of Camp Spofford, and the goal to start construction this September is no guarantee. I have often said that we will go at whatever pace God wants us to, and that continues to be true. Whether we start construction in the fall of 2026 or 2027, it will not change the truth of God’s faithfulness and plan for Camp Spofford. In that I am confident.
