Camp Spofford at a glance...

Since June of 1962, Camp Spofford has committed to being a place where people can know Jesus, follow him together, and rest in the beauty of God’s creation. With over 60 years of history, Camp Spofford continues to stay true to its mission through serving guests via Retreats, Family Camp, and Youth Camp. What happens here has been life-changing for so many, and we are continuously looking for ways to invite more and more people to our camp – one of those ways being facility expansion!

Over the last TWO YEARS...

Why now?

The Need

Camp Spofford continues to grow, and with that growth comes the need for expansions and updates to our facilities so that we can better serve those who come. Our most pressing need is to expand our Dining Hall, both the seating area and our kitchen.

If you’ve ever joined us for meals in the summertime or volunteered during our Retreat Season, you have likely experienced the tight quarters of our Dining Room. That cramped feeling has made it difficult to comfortably seat our guests during meal times, and there have been many points throughout the year where we had more guests on grounds than seats inside the Dining Hall. This issue has impacted both our guests and staff, and it’s forced us to set capacity limits that are lower than our bed count.

In addition to more seating space, this project will also include an expansion of our kitchen to make serving and prepping meals more efficient and effective.

By expanding our Dining Hall, we hope to create a more welcoming and functional environment that supports the ministry and community experience at the heart of what we do.

Project Timeline

Phase 1 - Kichen & Guest Experience Improvements

Construction Timeline:

We will begin the first phase of this campaign in the fall of 2025 with plans to compete it in the spring of 2026.

Kitchen Improvements:

We plan to increase our kitchen space by roughly 800 square feet. With this extra space, we will be installing an additional walk-in freezer. Our kitchen staff currently use one walk-in freezer on the main floor and 3 chest freezers in the attic, so this new freezer will eliminate the need for our team to constantly be running up and down stairs. This added space will also increase our food prep area, ensuring that we have the proper space to serve our increasing guest count and enhance the service we provide. Along with a new freezer and prep areas, we will also increase storage space, replace old and damaged kitchen equipment, and connect a generator so that weather will no longer inhibit our food service and guest meals.

Buffet & Beverage Upgrades:

We want to enhance the guest experience at meals with a better buffet flow and beverage options. To accomplish this, we will be renovating the buffet area and adding a brand new beverage station with equipment that will allow us to offer a wider range of drink options at meal times.

Knute’s Relocation:

Knute’s Cafe is an evening highlight of Camp, but it has become increasingly difficult to serve guests well out of its current location. Because of this, we have decided to move Knute’s to our Dining Hall to enhance service, food quality, and the overall experience that comes with larger seating space. In order to make this move, we will be adding a small prep area to our Dining Hall kitchen space.

Phase 2 - The Dining Room

We will increase the capacity of our dining area from 250 to 330 and add a retractable partition to separate our Youth Camp and Family Camp spaces in the summer and multiple guest groups in the Retreat Season. This steel-supported partition will give us flexibility to use either two separate dining spaces or one large Dining Hall to serve our guests year-round.

We will also be adding a second floor above the new Youth Camp section of the Dining Hall that will be used as office space. This office space will be finished by staff and volunteers in the future.

You're Invited!

As we continue to grow, our current dining space can no longer meet the needs of our expanding community. We are at a pivotal moment, and we invite you to partner with us financially to expand the Dining Hall – a project that will not only increase our capacity, but multiply our ministry’s impact and reach.

But why does that matter? Well, because we believe that a meal is more than a meal – it’s an opportunity to connect with others in an environment that promotes the Gospel and walking out faith together. But limited space means turning away campers or guests and restricting the kind of shared moments that make Camp Spofford so special.

With your support, we can:

  • Serve more campers, retreat guests, and families with excellence
  • Create a more welcoming and functional environment
  • Provide space for deeper community and spiritual growth

THE ASK

If you believe in the mission of Camp Spofford and its Kingdom impact, we would be honored by your gift – whether large or small. Would you consider partnering with us in this vital expansion? Together, we can continue to provide a place where every meal serves a deeper purpose.

History in the making...

One of the most amazing things about Camp Spofford is how many people love it and have been a part of our camp family for decades. And our prayer is that God would continue to use this place for His glory for generations to come.
