SUMMER STAFF APPLICATION

Orientation

Our 2026 summer season for guests runs from June 20 to August 29, with the addition of Week Zero in 2026.

Staff arrival also looks different this summer since Week Zero is replacing what has historically been Staff Orientation Week. Staff arrival will be June 10, 2026. Any staff who are out of school are invited to arrive on this date and begin working.

  • Counselor training will begin on Thursday, June 11 and go through Thursday, June 18. Counselors will be part of the staff for Impress Week and Week Zero. The first day of Youth Camp will be Sunday, July 5.
  • Support Staff will assist with Food Service and getting Camp ready during Counselor training. Department assignments will begin Friday, June 19.
  • All staff will be invited for a Staff Orientation Weekend, June 12-14. During this weekend there will be department training, Staff Chapel services, and plenty of opportunity to get to know everyone who is on staff for the summer.

Summer Commitment

We ask that all staff who apply and are hired commit to working a minimum of 6 guest weeks (not including training). We understand that this is a big ask, but we highly value the cohesiveness and consistency of our summer staff. Hiring preference is given to applicants who can work longer. The more weeks you can work, the more likely you will get hired.

If you don’t believe you can commit that much time, we would still love to hear from you about your interest in working at Camp. Throughout the summer, we may have spots that need to be filled where you can volunteer. So, please contact us if you want to explore that conversation.

SUMMER STAFF TIME OFF POLICY

Housing

Housing is included for all of our summer staff. We have 4 housing units that we use – 2 for boys and 2 for girls. Each unit houses up to 20 staffers, assigned by age, and has interior bathrooms. “Upper boys” and “upper girls” house our high school grads and older, while “lower boys” and “lower girls” house our high school students. Lower boys and girls will have a head of staff (college aged) assigned to live with them for the summer who will be in charge of their supervision and spiritual encouragement.

In addition to housing, we include 3 meals per day for our staff. If that’s not enough sustenance for you, we also run a delicious morning coffee shop and evening snack shop every day called Knute’s. Staff must pay out-of-pocket for any purchases made at Knute’s.

Salary Info

We are planning to make significant changes to the pay scale in 2026, but it will not be set until the 2026 budget is approved by the Board of Directors at the end of October. The biggest increase is for High School graduates and counselors to make it more financially realistic to spend your summer working at Camp! We know you can probably still make more money elsewhere, but we hope this makes your decision to work at Camp even easier. Pay rates will be posted by the end of October. Here are last year’s rates for reference:
