Staff

Dave Nelson Operations Director
Dave Nelson
Operations Director
Dave’s favorite thing about working at Camp Spofford is seeing staffers mature, walk with the Lord, and then faithfully lead their family. If he were to write a book the title would be “Why Coffee is Important at Coffee Break…”
Nick Johnson Guest Group Coordinator
Nick Johnson
Guest Group Coordinator
Nick loves seeing Camp Spofford guests year after year, seeing their growth, and building relationships with them. He will do whatever he can to win any competition at camp, but be especially careful around him on the volleyball court!
Mary Laporte Business Manager
Mary Laporte
Business Manager
Mary’s favorite things about working at Camp Spofford is watching the children grow each year, the beauty of the surroundings, and the genuine care and support the staff has for each other. If she wrote a book, it would be about the secret Camp Spofford run by and for chipmunks under all camp's buildings. Mary thought she would be a farrier when she grew up. She was big into horses most of her childhood. The farriers fascinated her!
Doug Hildreth Food Service Director
Doug Hildreth
Food Service Director
Doug’s favorite thing about working at Camp Spofford is seeing old friends and making new relationships. When he was 2, he was pretty sure he’d be a Chef when he grew up. (He has it written in his baby book)
Lisa Martens Housekeeping Manager
Lisa Martens
Housekeeping Manager
Lisa's favorite things about working at Camp Spofford are the Christ-centered environment, the beauty of the lake and the summer gardens, and working in departments where she rarely has to sit still! If she could add to the dictionary, it would be her family's definition of the word "stodge".
Alissa Abrahamsen Office Staff
Alissa Abrahamsen
Office Staff
Alissa’s favorite thing about working at Camp Spofford is the people she gets to work with… and the food! If she wrote a book, the title would probably be “Rolling With It.”

Stephen Schurter Assistant Cook
Stephen Schurter
Assistant Cook
Stephen's favorite thing about working at camp is being able to provide rest and a good meal to those who need it. It brings him joy to watch God work through our staff to provide an environment for growth and healing. If Stephen could have any super power, it would be to make others laugh regardless of the quality of any terrible pun or dad joke.
